DESCRIPTION
There is an old photo of my mom piggybacking me that had me thinking about how mothers carry their children and the responsibility and weight of motherhood. Piggyback Podegi is inspired by my beautiful mother 엄마 who used to piggyback me until I was 5 years old because I was soo shy. When I first painted this image many years ago, I was subconsciously longing to be a mother, but didn't think it could happen for me because of a condition I struggle with called endometriosis. This new digital version celebrates motherhood and my beautiful baby.
The Korean word Podegi 포대기 means 'baby carrier'.
